*punches fist on the table* because if you want to suffer you can imagine, like. When Belial’s wings started to change after the rebellion maybe Belial tried to tear them from his back but couldn’t properly do it, they’d keep coming back, and eventually he had to settle to changing them in his boa, but eventually he could have mutilated himself enough to try to get rid of it.
and it’d explain why he was so expertly when he took Sariel’s wings away :)

Lucilius would be full of rage about it. He’d probably try to be domineering on Lucio while probably being soft on Lucifer. Whenever it’d fix him or not is hard to tell.
as for Lucifer i feel like he’d just have no idea what he’s doing here. He’ll do what’s asked of him if asked but i’m not sure he benefits much of it, nor would he specifically loses much out of it. He’s the odd one out.

Lucilius's weird narcissism with Lucifer is so fun to think about (not condoning any of his BS though)! Like you said, he ended up behaving like the God who scorned him and his creation who was supposed to be him, but better (=taller and stronger, lol) ended up also rebelling and killing him. So when Lucifer struck him down, in Lucilius's mind, he was validated in his quest to kill his own cold, uncaring God. He died happy because his point was proven. and yeah this is really how it stands out to me, that Lucilius is okay and proud of Lucifer for all of that only because he made Lucifer his mirror. He’s not looking at Lucifer as much as he’s looking at the “best version of himself”.
if Belial had rebelled against Lucilius, Lucilius would probably have been just pissed. If Sandalphon, if any of the primarches rebelled, would Lucilius have even cared? he barely looked at them.
but Lucifer is basically this reflection of what Lucilius believes to be and believes can be. So that Lucifer rebels is more something stroking his ego than him being just delighted his creation is rebelling.

Honestly, that's a good point. Belial knows when to call it quits. He's demonstrating that even in the cosplay shows these days. He feels more mature than Sandalphon in that regard. joking aside, i feel like that’s the difference right?
Before his Exile Belial was doing things in secret to start with, and then he spent 2k years laying low and keeping his secrets as much as he could. Belial knows that sometimes laying low is good for survival. And i believe he cares more for survival than he let on and everything, if not for himself, at least in order to be useful to Lucilius.
But Sandalphon? He was doing nothing in the gardens before the war, and then he spent the 2k years in the Pandemonium having to fight for his life. He probably had very little place to run (and we know if he was caught he was being tortured), so it probably means that rather than laying low and risking getting caught, he probably just engaged in fights as he could to survive.
So we have on one hand someone who’s used to lay low when things become too complicated if only to better strike later (like a snake!), and on the other we have someone who had to fight for survive and for whom laying low wasn’t exactly an option.
So makes sense right? Even more than it being about maturity it’s really about how their experience on survival shapes them as individuals.
but yeah, i don’t know for rematches and stuff but i believe Sandalphon could get close to it if Belial doesn’t have an escape road at least?
i am still mystified by the concept of unironic Lucilius apologia. like. after it's been hammered in over and over again with Primals that even though they were made as weapons and with a set purpose they generally have thoughts and feelings and even a lot of the non-humanoid ones are basically People. how do you see a guy talking about scrapping one of them like he's a broken toaster or something and not gather "oh this guy is a villain". like that scene was supposed to be appalling and that's not even getting into the shit he does when he shows up in person later--

i think it’s pretty much people who think that the end justify the means. That since the ultimate goal is destructing the whole world and god anyway, it’s just one necessary step and it’s justified (?)
One argument i could come up with if i was playing the devil’s advocate is that since he was the first person to create primals, he probably didn’t exactly expect them to get free will and so once he noticed they got free will he went :/ well too bad i still have a plan to go through tho, and he did it.
But even that doesn’t really hold on to scrutiny and/or even add to the cruelty of it all imo (like, i don’t even think he cared enough about them to notice anything, but considering he put a limiter on Sariel’s feelings, despite admiring Lucifer’s final attempt at free will, he probably still found way to stop it in anyone else. My hot take is that the only reason he was okay with Lucifer’s rebellion was more on this self-absorbed reasoning that he saw Lucifer as “him, but better”, his perfect creation, and to see Lucifer rebel against his creator was the final proof of how Lucilius himself achieved godhood by also achieving to get someone Like Him to rebel against him. ya catch my drift?)

I think his scene about Sandalphon is really telling, but imo the creation of Avatar itself show the horror of how little he cared for the creatures he created that he basically set them up and fooled them with rebelling only to end up torturing them for an eternity for his own personal gain.
I feel like, if anything, his apologists must start at thee fact Lucilius’s existence is agonizing (it’s true!) and the fact his final goal of killing God is commendable (like, sure!), and they basically justify that everything in the middle is either justified by his agony (no!) or a necessary evil for his goal (no!!!)
Personally i don’t see how… or even why you’d decide to read it like that. I feel like it’s such a disservice to Lucilius as a character to just refuse to acknowledge he was terrible lmao.

Do you think Sandalphon /could/ kill Belial? Not if he would. Not from a morality standpoint, either. But do you think he could take him out, for real? I imagine Belial would put up a fight and he probably fights a lot dirtier than Sandy. Though Sandy had to fight for his survival for 2000 years in Pandemonium, so he'd be more used to that as well and wouldn't be held back like, say, Lucifer, who would never even think of playing dirty. It could be messy, is all I'm saying. Probably not easy

Once Sandalphon is used to Lucifer’s powers? I’d actually still give the victory to Belial because i think power alone wouldn’t have helped Sandalphon in that case and Belial’s wits could have overwhelmed him.
but with Sandalphon getting the primarches powers? at the time of wmtsb pt3 he wasn’t used to those powers so he had low stamina and therefore it led to a tie while Belial was in Avatar mode
but if a rematch happened now? now that Sandalphon is more used to his powers?
on regular Belial, i think Sandalphon would have a fighting chance. On another Avatar Belial well. That’s tricky to say.
Also there’s the fact that primals are not easy to kill (only two were actually killed in existence as far as i personally know) , and should require Otherworld weaponery. So it wouldn’t be as much about strength and power than it would be about having the right tools at the right time.

I def think that Sandalphon can play dirty and that would help him, but Belial is a pro at playing dirty, so it’d be really an endurance test.
